Marriage Intensives

A marriage intensive condenses what might take months of weekly sessions into a focused block of dedicated time. Instead of stopping just as you reach something important, you stay with it — moving through the hard middle and into real momentum, often in a single concentrated stretch.

Annie brings tremendous, hands-on experience to intensive work — guiding couples through their most pivotal moments with depth, structure, and care.

Who It's For

Couples who feel stuck or disconnected, partners rebuilding after betrayal or crisis, or anyone whose schedule makes weekly therapy hard to sustain.

What to Expect

Extended, focused time built around your specific situation — combining EFT and Gottman-based work to move from gridlock toward understanding and reconnection.

Why It Works

Concentrated time removes the stop-start of weekly sessions, letting you reach breakthroughs sooner and leave with a clear, shared plan for what comes next.

For women who love deeply — and are learning to include themselves.

You gave everything.
It's time to give some
back to yourself.

While Annie welcomes couples, individuals, and families of every background, she holds a special place in her practice for the woman who has poured herself into her marriage, her children, and the life she built — and somewhere along the way stopped being able to find herself in it.

If that's you, therapy here is a place to come home to yourself: to name what you've been carrying, rediscover what you set down, and step back into your own life with steadiness and hope. This focus shapes Annie's heart — it never limits who is welcome at her table.

Proven Approaches, Tailored to You

More than any single technique, Annie believes it's the quality of the therapeutic relationship that creates lasting change. Within that, she draws on a toolkit of evidence-based, relationship-tested methods — matched to your goals and your pace.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

An attachment-based approach that uncovers the deeper emotions and needs beneath recurring conflict, helping you break negative cycles and build a secure, lasting bond.

The Gottman Method

Research-based couples therapy (Annie is trained at Level I) that builds your "Sound Relationship House," strengthens friendship and conflict skills, and counters the patterns that erode connection.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Practical, structured work that helps you recognize and shift the thought patterns driving anxiety, low mood, and stuck behaviors.

Narrative Therapy

You are the author of your story. Narrative work helps you step back from the problem and re-author your experience in a way that restores agency and meaning.

SYMBIS & PREPARE/ENRICH

Trusted premarital and couples assessments that map your strengths and growth areas across communication, finances, intimacy, expectations, and shared values.

Optional Faith Integration

For clients who desire it, prayer and spiritual reflection are woven in alongside clinical care — honoring your beliefs, always by invitation and never imposed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions people most often have about counseling, methods, faith, insurance, and getting started. Don't see yours? A free consultation is the best place to ask.

Do you offer Christian or Catholic counseling?
Yes. Annie is a Catholic Christian therapist with graduate training in theology, and she offers optional faith and prayer integration at your request. Faith is always an invitation, never a requirement — clients of every background, or none, are equally welcome.
What is the difference between couples counseling and marriage counseling?
They overlap heavily. “Marriage counseling” usually describes married partners working on a specific concern, while “couples counseling” includes dating, engaged, and married couples at any stage. Annie works with all of them using approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method.
Do you offer premarital counseling, and what does it involve?
Yes — preparing couples for marriage is one of Annie’s specialties. She uses structured premarital assessments such as SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) and PREPARE/ENRICH to help you explore communication, expectations, finances, intimacy, and shared values before you say “I do.”
What is a marriage intensive, and who is it for?
A marriage intensive condenses weeks or months of weekly therapy into a focused block of dedicated time — often a full or multi-day session — so couples can move through a major issue or reconnect more quickly. Annie has extensive experience leading intensives for couples who feel stuck, disconnected, or are rebuilding after a rupture.
What is the Gottman Method?
The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy built on decades of study into what makes relationships succeed. It helps partners build their “Sound Relationship House,” manage conflict, and counter the patterns (the “Four Horsemen”) that erode connection. Annie is trained in the Gottman Method, Level I.
What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?
EFT is an evidence-based, attachment-focused therapy that helps couples and individuals identify the deeper emotions and needs underneath recurring conflict, so they can break negative cycles and build secure, lasting bonds.
Do you provide individual therapy, or only couples?
Both. Alongside her relational work, Annie sees individuals navigating anxiety, grief, identity, life transitions, and singleness — helping you reconnect with yourself, not only with the people around you.
Do you take insurance or offer out-of-network reimbursement?
Annie is an out-of-network provider and partners with Thrizer to make therapy more affordable. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you can check your estimated reimbursement in minutes using the benefits calculator on this page — no phone calls to your insurer required.
Can we meet online, and which states are you licensed in?
Yes. Annie offers secure telehealth in addition to in-person sessions in Indianapolis. She is licensed in Indiana, Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, South Carolina, Iowa, California, and Colorado, and is actively expanding to more states.
Do I have to be religious to work with Annie?
Not at all. Faith integration is completely optional. Whether you want a faith-centered approach, a fully secular one, or something in between, you will receive the same warm, professional, evidence-based care.
How long does couples or marriage therapy take?
It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Some couples come for a focused season; others stay longer for deeper work. Annie will talk through a realistic picture with you early on, and a marriage intensive can accelerate progress when time matters.
How do I get started?
The simplest first step is a free consultation. Share a little about your story, ask questions, and see whether it is the right fit — with no pressure or obligation. You can request a consultation or book a session directly through Jane.
