What It Is

For the Woman Who Lost Herself in the Roles

You are allowed to want yourself back.

If you have caught yourself thinking I do not feel like myself anymore, or I have lost myself in motherhood and marriage, you are not alone, and you are not broken. Individual therapy is a space to work through anxiety, grief, identity, life transitions, and singleness, and to reconnect with who you are beneath everything you carry.

Annie Harton Kassell, LMFT, works especially with married women who feel as though they have slowly disappeared into the caretaking, the calendars, and the version of life they were supposed to want. That quiet question — who am I underneath all of this? — is precisely the work she does.

Who It's For

The Woman Who Holds Everything Together

The wife and mother who puts everyone first and cannot remember the last time she considered herself. The high-functioning woman who looks fine and feels empty. The people-pleaser learning that boundaries are not selfish. The woman moving through a hard transition, a loss, or a season of singleness.

You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to deserve support. You just need to be ready to come home to yourself.

The Approach

Evidence-Based, and Fully Yours

Annie's care is grounded in evidence-based methods — cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and more — chosen for what actually helps you. For women who want it, faith and a Catholic perspective can be woven in as an anchor; for those who do not, it is set aside entirely. The woman in front of her is always the center.

Common Questions

Questions People Often Ask

A few things people want to know before they reach out.

I feel like I have lost myself in motherhood. Can therapy help?
Yes. That experience is far more common than most women realize, and it has a name in the research — the identity shift of becoming and being a mother. Therapy gives you space to grieve who you were, integrate who you are becoming, and reconnect with yourself.
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
No. Many of the women Annie works with are functioning well on the outside and simply feel lost, depleted, or unlike themselves. You do not need a diagnosis or a catastrophe to deserve support.
What issues does individual therapy address?
Anxiety, grief and loss, identity and self-worth, life transitions, people-pleasing and boundaries, singleness, and the quiet sense of having disappeared into your roles.
Is individual therapy available online?
Yes. Annie sees women in Indianapolis and by secure video across Indiana and the other states where she is licensed.
